Hello! I'm Cyan. I live in Texas. I'm Catholic and I like dogs.

I like reading books and learning about interesting things. I'm a democrat (shocking, I know)

My favorite color is actually green, not cyan.

Started reading Redeeming Love which is a retelling of the book of Hosea during the California gold rush

I’m also going to extend the goal to responding with love to things or people I don’t understand

In my parish’s book club we’ve been reading the Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis. I’m really digging the part especially that says if you attach politics to religion it will move that person away from God. ie a person can be swayed towards the political nature of organizing pamphlets and think she’s doing good works when in actuality she’s moving away from God.

Obviously I have no problems with anyone having different opinions than me. But I must draw the line when priests say that when someone dies they should not have been hanging around bad people. It shows great insensitivity. How are you going to be someone that your parishioners can go to for help or comfort when you are publicly shaming a deceased person.
