I know at least one person who turned atheist in his late teenage years and then was led back to faith by a wonderful young woman just a few years later. Sometimes in life the holy spirit leads you into the desert like Jesus in Mark 1,12, but many people are not strong enough to withstand the devil and miss the assistance the teenager mentioned above obtained. But the father patiently longs for the return of every lost child.

@stefan Yes, that is what the story of the Prodigal son (which I like to title "The Story of the Running Father) is all about. While there is breath, there is still hope.
